Expert evidence in Court
As part of our forensic engineering service, we are often required to give expert evidence in Court following an insurance claim investigation.
In the case of a motor accident or an accident at work, we will generally act for the claimant rather than the insurance company.
We can provide expert evidence in relation to maps, trip hazards, etc.
Is there a liability due to a trip hazard, or was the stairs built to the correct specifications?
Flood damage
In 2008, there was a serious flood on the northside of Dublin.
We acted for 13 residents of a block through their solicitor.
The day after the flood, we went in to find out what happened, and prepared a report on the condition of the properties.
Our report answered questions such as:
-
how high did the water rise?
-
what was damaged?
-
what problems are likely to follow from this?
-
how did it happen and who is responsible?
Following that, we brought in a Quantity Surveyor to cost the report and to give their evidence in court.
It turned out to be a long, drawn out procedure, finally being settled 8 years later.
